Finding the right fit
Good tuition depends on more than matching a student to a subject.
Before beginning, I like to understand where the student is starting from: their confidence, their current understanding, their attitude towards maths, and what they or their family hope tuition will help with.
Some students need careful support after losing confidence. Some need help with gaps that have built up over time. Some are aiming for a particular grade or preparing for a demanding next step. Others are doing well but want greater depth, fluency and independence.
The first conversation helps us decide whether I am likely to be the right tutor for the student.
